So backup copies in "known good" states can save you a lot of time. You may also need to think about applying mod's to games in batches and have a method for rolling back changes, as very rarely you can run into a modification that screws things up to the degree that re-installing is the simplest way to resolve it. I have a pretty large collection of games going back 30 years, so re-visiting old games is something I'm pretty familiar with.īe very aware though that modding and updating some of these games (particularly the last 3 Elder Scrolls games & The Fallout ones) can take a _considerable_ amount of time and effort. I personally think it's better than Gal-Civ 3 and still holds up well (avail on GOG). Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate Edition - still one of my favorite turn based 4X style strategy games. There's very few games like this any more, so it's likely to either appeal or it won't.

3.2.1 Second wave of home computers 3.2.2 The IBM PC compatible 3.3 Early online games.
OLD PC GAMES UPDATE
The party management systems are much better in this title and were later basically stripped from it, to make it more "accessible".Īnother World 20th Anniversary - remake / update of an old adventure game. Contents 3.1 Video game crash of 1983 3.2 The rise of computer games. Grand Theft Auto 5 - I consider that an old game now (2013) and it's definitely fun to play through once or twice in first person perspective.ĭragon Age Origins - I prefer this game a lot more to the more recent sequels.
OLD PC GAMES SERIES
Medieval II Total War - I still actually prefer this game to a lot of the more modern games in the Total War series - obviously there's a large degree of personal preference & subjectivity. Silent Hunter 4 & 5 - both can be modded and updated considerably. NeverWinter Nights 1 & 2 (there's an enhanced version available for 1, but not 2) IceWind Dale 1 & 2 (there's an enhanced version available for 1, but not 2) Look at and if you're not already aware of it. Lost Alpha DC requires 2 hot-fixes, after installation, but other than that - they're good to go.įallout 3, Fallout New Vegas & Fallout 4 - all of these can be modded and updated to ridiculous levels, exactly like the Elder Scrolls games.
OLD PC GAMES PLUS
Plus there's STALKER Anomaly and STALKER Lost Alpha DC, both of which are _free_. All of the original 3 games have really good mod's available. all of them (modded and/or running on updated game engines - the game engine comment is mainly directed at Daggerfall and Morrowind).
